Fugro Consultants, Inc. is seeking a senior-level, licensed Engineer to supervise professional, technical and administrative staff in our New Orleans office as well as apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of complex engineering assignments and projects. The successful candidate will be able to work well with minor input and direction from the Louisiana regional director.
Plan, develop, coordinate and direct large and important engineering projects as well as a number of small projects for Activity Center, utilizing engineering, technical and administrative staff.
Actively participate in recruiting, hiring, managing and developing professional, technical and administrative staff, utilizing best practices to achieve outstanding results.
Provide leadership in the Activity Center and set example consistent with exemplary ethical and professional standards, mentor technical skills and adherence to quality standards.
Perform work that involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.
Perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements
Estimate workforce needs and schedules, and assign work to meet completion dates.
Ensure commitments to client are met in timeliness, accuracy, and conformance to budget.
Develop proposals and reports for review by Project Manager.
Meet utilization goals as determined by Activity Center Manger or supervisor.
position requirements
Excellent written communication skills including comprehensive understanding of writing for Engineering documents and related legal terminology. Mentor written communication skills in others.
Effective verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to mentor this in others.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to identify and resolve conflict among project teams, direct reports, and with clients.
Ability to competently and professionally present project materials in client meetings, including identifying and mitigating client concerns. Ability to work independently and within teams, occasionally acting as Project Manager.
Knowledge & Skills
Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or equivalent from accredited college or university. Ph. D. preferred.
Licensed Professional Engineer required.
10 years related experience required.
Possess current driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
Possess or is able to obtain valid passport.
Familiar with modern office methods, practices, procedures and equipment, as well as filing systems and business letter writing and competent in correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
Physical Qualifications
Performs moderate work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Daily activities include both field and office environments.
Some travel may be required including possible long-term out-of-town assignments.
Possible international travel/assignments may be required.
